Cookie policy
Every cookie set by this site, its purpose and its retention period — and how to change your mind.
01 What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file saved on the device you use to browse a website (computer, tablet, smartphone). It generally contains:
- an identifier, in the form of a unique number
- the name of the server that set it
- an expiry date
- information relating to your browsing
Two lifespans
Session cookies disappear as soon as you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your device until their lifespan expires or until you delete them manually.
A cookie on its own does not identify you by name, but it does constitute personal data as soon as it allows a device to be tracked. That is why setting one, other than strictly necessary cookies, is subject to your prior consent.
02 Your consent
On your first visit, a banner lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies. No third-party content is loaded before you have made that choice. Analytics, which sets no cookie, does not depend on it: it is described further down.
Declining has no consequence for your access to the site or for booking an appointment. You can change your decision at any time using the manager further down this page; your choice is kept for 6 months, after which you are asked again.
Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential to the operation of the site and do not require your consent. They serve no analytics or advertising purpose.
| Cookie | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
becker-consent | Remembers your cookie choices so that you are not asked again on every page. | 6 months |
Cookie-free analytics
We use Plausible Analytics, a tool hosted in the European Union that sets no cookie and keeps no visitor identifier: your IP address is not stored, and no health data is transmitted to it. It tells us which pages are viewed, as well as when the appointment journey is opened and forms are sent, so that we can improve the site.
As it uses neither cookie nor identifier, this measurement does not fall under the consent described above; it relies on our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Cookies set by third-party content
Some pages may embed content hosted by third parties (YouTube videos in particular). Such content sets its own cookies as soon as it loads, and is therefore only displayed once you have agreed. Until you have consented, a placeholder is shown in place of the content.
This site embeds no location map: the Google listing and the directions for each clinic are plain links, which set no cookie unless you follow them.
| Cookie | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE | YouTube cookie — estimates bandwidth and playback quality. | 6 months |
YSC | YouTube cookie — records the videos watched during the session. | Session |
CONSENT | Google cookie — stores the browser’s consent state. | 2 years |
NID / PREF | Google cookies — player display preferences. | 6 months to 2 years |
03 Managing cookies from your browser
Independently of this site’s manager, your browser lets you accept, decline or delete cookies that have already been set. The settings differ from one browser to another:
04 Complaints
For any question about cookies, write to dpo@cabinet-becker.lu. If our answer does not satisfy you, you may refer the matter to the Commission nationale pour la protection des données (CNPD, Luxembourg’s data protection authority), 15 boulevard du Jazz, L-4370 Belvaux — www.cnpd.lu.
Manage my preferences
You can change your mind at any time. Your decision is kept for 6 months, after which you will be asked again.
